A portrait painting in memory of James Gandolfini, who passed away on June 19, 2013.  
He was best known for his role as Tony Soprano in The Sopranos and I thought a portrait of him as the iconic Tony Soprano should be my focus.

I have to be honest, I've never actually watched the The Sopranos, except in passing...but my family and friends love the show.
Every time there is a death, I get an urge to do a memorial drawing or painting in honor of that person. (I did one for my Grandfather when he passed in 2003. I did another for both my Grandparents in 2005 and another in memory of my Uncle who passed in 2011).
It's basically a healing process for me. It helps me remember and appreciate that person. Even though I didn't know James Gandolfini or I wasn't truly familiar with Tony Soprano, I felt a connection and I felt emotional while painting and I hope that he's resting in peace.
