Father of the year – Day 07 (Blog)

Happy Fathers Day!!! 🙂

I’ve had this little project on my list for a long time. It’s based off a photograph taken of my brother and my nephew (I changed it up a bit – they were originally in the pool).  My brother being who he is – a jokester, thought it would be funny to smile for the camera when his infant son is bawling his eyes out.  This didn’t surprise me at all, but don’t let this image fool you, he really is an awesome dad and this never hesitates to make me smile! My first thought was sarcastically “Father of the year” and it stuck with me after all this time and I thought it was the perfect image for a humourous Father’s Day card – especially for all those great dads out there who love to tease their children! 😛

Gesture Drawing Study – Day 03 (Blog)

For day 3 I figured I do something a little different. Although I’ve been doing gesture drawings for years, I guess I never really focused on the shapes/anatomy in the figure for both humans and animals as much as I would have liked.

Mets Sporting Event – Day 02 (Blog)

Jun 11, 2013   //   by Kimberly Joyce Illustration   //   Blog, Digital Illustration, Process, Sketchbook  //  2 Comments

So I promised myself I would work on a new art piece daily, but as usual life gets in the way.  I had to put my “day 2” project on hold because I was at the Mets Game!

Thinking of projects ideas and wondering what to work on next, I thought that since I was at the baseball game, my next project would be to focus on a sporting event! I took a bunch of pictures and decided to draw one of them! My painting is of Daniel Murphy from the New York Mets.

For now, I finished my Mets Sporting Event (not completed)

Green Landscape Study – Day 01 (Blog)

Jun 10, 2013   //   by Kimberly Joyce Illustration   //   Blog, Digital Illustration, Process, Sketchbook  //  4 Comments

Hey everyone!! Sorry it’s been so long since my last blog post! This is going to change. From now on I have a goal of creating a new piece of art everyday (or at least try – maybe every other day)! I know, I know…this is something that I should have been doing all along, but I always made some sort of excuse… like not having time, having a tight deadline, etc. No more excuses! (I quote “No more excuses” for my work outs, might as well use that for my art too!)
